Our Work in Sierra Leone
​In 2024/25 we began focussing our global development work on Sierra Leone. Focusing on a single country enables us to better understand the working environment of the organisations we support.

We chose Sierra Leone because we want to work where we can make the most difference. Of the 10 countries ranked lowest on the UN Human Development Index, Sierra Leone stands out for its relative stability and its links to the UK, which make it easier for us to be effective.

For 2025 we are supporting the UK charities below with grants of between £2,000 and £12,000. All have impressive volunteer-led teams in the UK with strong relationships with community organisations in Sierra Leone. They help provide necessities such as clean water, food, health, education and livelihoods. We intend that by evaluating their lasting impact we will be able to prioritise the most effective interventions for future years.
